NGRI announces skill initiative programs for postgraduate un-employed youth                                                                 

      

The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic forced most of the academic institutions and learning centers to put their programs on hold. Accepting the challenge of adjusting to the new normal, various institutes in India have started announcing the commencement of their programs. National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) under Govt. of India’s "Skill India" mission, has lined-up numbers of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)’s Integrated Skill Initiative programs for postgraduate un-employed youth, aside from programs for industry personnel and University/college faculties.

These courses aim to create a high-quality skilled workforce relevant to current and emerging industry needs in the science and technology sector through training and skilling in diverse areas at different National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).


The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has successfully developed an innovative bioinformatics tool named RemeDB, which would help identify novel bioremediation- related enzymes from a huge set of metagenomic sequence data.

The institute is offering skilling and training courses on areas like Seismological Data Analysis and its Applications. The tentative start-date of this program is January 04-16, 2021. Program in Groundwater Exploration Techniques (GET), is most likely to start from January 19-30, 2021. February 01-13, 2021 are the tentative dates for Near Surface Shallow Seismic Techniques- Applications course. Groundwater Quality Monitoring and Assessment is expected to start from February 15-27, 2021. The tentative dates for Advanced Training Programme on Analytical Geochemistry course are March 01-10, 2021.

Application for Seismological Data Analysis and its Applications, and Groundwater Exploration Techniques (GET) are open and the last date of submission of the application form is 06th November and 20th November respectively. Application for others will be made open soon. After completing the course the institute will provide certificates to the participants.

Selection will be made based on criteria of number of applications and resources available, background of applicants, history of earlier trainings attended, etc. details of which will be included in the respective advertisements. Other such courses will be announced on the website of CSIR-NGRI from time to time and online application forms will be made available.
