Applications are invited from Physically Handicapped persons for the following posts in Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organization set up by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, for taking up large-scale science popularization tasks.  The primary objective of Vigyan Prasar is to promote and propagate – as widely as possible – a scientific, rational outlook in society. 
  

 1) Scientist ‘C’ (Information Technology) (One Post; reserved for Hearing Handicapped (Partially Deaf / Deaf)  or Visually Handicapped (Low Vision / Blind) on Direct recruitment basis or on Deputation.   
 

Scale of Pay Rs. 10000-325-15200 plus allowances as per Central Government Rules.
 

 Essential Qualifications and experience:

 Master's degree in Science/ MCA or Bachelor’s degree in engineering / technology from a recognised university or equivalent with 5 years work experience in the field of Information and Communication Technology.   

 Desirable:

 Computer Networking, Server Administration, Database Administration  (SQL Server, Oracle).

Job Description: The person would be responsible for maintaining database, updating website, design and development of interactive multimedia CDs on various aspects of science and technology. 

Age Limit:  40 years as on the date of publication of advertisement for General candidates

       43 years as on the date of publication of advertisement for OBC candidates.

       45 years as on the date of publication of advertisement for SC/ST candidates.

2) Junior Scientific Officer (One Post; reserved for Orthopaedically Handicapped – One Leg, Both Legs) on Direct Recruitment or on Deputation basis. 

Scale of Pay Rs. 5500-175-9000 plus allowances as per Central Government Rules.

Essential Qualifications:

(a) Degree in science / BCA from a recognised university or equivalent, or

(b) Diploma in Engineering

Experience: Two years in Design and Development of interactive multimedia CD using Flash, Director, Corel, 3D Max etc.

Desirable:

Working knowledge of handling modern office equipment. 

Job Description: The person would be responsible for creation, maintenance and updation of digital library, Vigyan Prasar Stock, Store records, annual mailing list of monthly newsletters etc. 

Age Limit: 40 years as on the date of publication of advertisement.

       43 years as on the date of publication of advertisement for OBC candidates.

                   45 years as on the date of publication of advertisement for SC/ST candidates.

Instructions and additional information to candidates for Post 1 and Post 2:

a)      Method of recruitment

Direct Recruitment or Deputation. Only such persons would be eligible for reservation who suffer from not less than 40 per cent of relevant disability.  The candidate would have to submit a Disability Certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format.

b) Eligibility criteria for deputation

i)                    Scientist ‘C’: Holding analogous posts; or those with five years service in the next lower scale of pay in government departments/autonomous bodies who fulfill all the qualifications and experience prescribed for direct recruitment  (the period of deputation shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years.) 

ii)                   Jr. Scientific Officer: Holding analogous posts; or those with three years service in the next lower scale of pay in government departments/autonomous bodies who fulfill all the qualifications and experience prescribed for direct recruitment  (the period of deputation shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years.)

c) Persons employed in Government/Semi-Government/ PSUs/Autonomous Bodies must submit their applications through proper channel.  However, an advance copy of the application may be sent directly so as to reach us on time.  (However, if called for interview, the candidate would have to produce a no objection certificate from the employer.) 

d) Qualifications, experience and age is relaxable by the Selection Committee for candidates  otherwise  found  suitable for the job advertised.

e) Applications in the prescribed format should reach the Registrar, Vigyan Prasar, A-50, Institutional Area, Sector – 62, Noida 201 307, within a period of one month from the date of publication of this advertisement.  The last date in respect of  applications received only (by post) from candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands or Lakshadweep or abroad, would be 45 days from the date of publication of advertisement.  The qualifications and experience claimed must be backed by authenticated documentary proof.   Each application should be signed by the candidate with the date.  The envelope containing the application must be superscribed in bold letter as "Application for the post of …………..” Age limit is to be reckoned from the date of the advertisement.
