Vigyan
prasar has proposed to develop a 26 part video series on the
theme of Astronomy as part of its campaign on International
Year of Astronomy 2009.Proposals were invited through
advertisement in newspapers and Vigyan Prasar's website. A
number of firms and agencies applied for the same. The
proposed serial is divided into six blocks.
VP constituted
independent committees with experts from relevant fields to
scrutinize and examine the proposals. Three separate and
independent committees evaluated the treatment, profile and
sample programme submitted by the agencies and ranked the
proposals respectively.Subsequently,based upon the ranks
obtained by each agency/firm, a committee consisting of
eminent experts recommended the following firms for the award
of the work order for the various blocks.VP has accepted the
same and the following firms/agencies are selected for
preparation of the video series on the theme of Astronomy.
